Am I from an artistic family? You could say so. Third generation thespian who made it as far as performing on Broadway with Sandy Duncan in 'Peter pan' when I was eight years old. But, in my heart the thing that I really loved was art and design.
I hired for my first art/design job at 16 doing layout, paste up and photography for a small Addison, Texas based business. After graduating high school at 17, I went to the Art Institute of Dallas, where I majored in Visual Communications.
When I was 19, I ended up becoming a lead designer for the 'Barney and Friends' PBS television series. After a year of design and taping, series 100 ended and I felt the call to press on. I had several different jobs from, publishing companies to signage shops, until I landed in a position at The Store Decor Co. Within 6 months, I was promoted to the Art Director of the Digital Imaging Department. It was there I was asked the one question that would change my career path. I was asked, "Can you design and program a website for us?" I responded with, "Not right now, but give me a week and I will learn how". This was back in the day before WYSIWYG programs were prominent and I had the task of learning and juggling both the design and HTML Programming of the site.
I loved it! It was the perfect balance between being creative and logical thinking. That was in 1996. Ever since, I have focused on web design, HTML programming, web design theory & psychology, and multimedia. I have refined my skills on both an artistic and technical level, finding the right balance between art and functionality.
I love what I do for a living, which is a rare position to be in. I am thankful for the opportunities that have been presented to me, and proud of my hard work and determination to constantly excel in what ever I do.
